Hello Family and a massive welcome back to the blogs. My last blog was in December 2023, yikes. It was a blog series called ‘Addressing Jealousy’, and if you have not read those… head on over there. But this blog is a reintroduction, as I am about to get into more writing as God leads me. I had a look at my website stats and phenomenally, an average of 150 visitors are coming to read my blogs each month, with an international audience spanning across Europe, Africa and the United States. I was stunned to learn this and it has given me some fuel to keep this part of my ministry going.
Who is Dominique Octave?
I am a servant of Yahweh, singer and songwriter and media lawyer. These days, I am stepping into some new roles, one of them being artist management and I am hoping to go back into the business world and re-launch a business I started called ‘CUL/TURE a Conscious Interruption’. I love fitness, I love tennis (but I can’t play lols) and the Jesus centered, peace, love, joy and fun filled life is what I am going for.
Where have I been?
One word – Adulting. Some amazing things in life happened. Regarding my career, I got to work at my dream job and I recently moved on. After formally qualifying as a lawyer, I think I just needed some time to focus on my legal career and do my best to be excellent in the workplace. With respect to music, I have done a few gigs here and there, the best one being Ronnie Scotts. I’ve definitely struggled to find my mojo online, but I am being brave and sharing again.
The Mission
I firmly believe that the love of Christ can heal our world as we strive to get closer to Him and follow His example. It is my deep desire to share the Gospel and the cool things God reveals to me as I walk with Him. Ultimately, I am trying to follow Matthew 28:19-20:
“…Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
The climate online and in the world has made me fearful. But I am reminded that God has not given me a spirit of fear but of love, power and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). So I am walking in that.
What also motivates me is Mark 8:36 “What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul?”. In other words, everything we are chasing in this world, without Jesus, is completely pointless. You can have the Instagram/Tik Tok followers, holiday five times a year, buy your dream house, have the most amazing body/aesthetic… but if you do not know Jesus and you are not saved (by accepting Him as your personal Lord and saviour), you have missed it. The most important thing is the security of your soul. The enemy of your soul wants to ensure your soul is not secure, by causing society to focus on material things (rather than the things of God), distracting you and deceiving you. The bible calls Satan the father of lies (John 8:44) – it is who he is and he is the best at it.
My mission for the faith blogs is for this to be a place of truth, completely filled with the love of God, so that just maybe, we will win souls for Jesus and make the enemy mad.
